WINDMILLS ANIMALS AND GREENERY-DAY 10

9/12/2015

The weather held until nightfall. Although overcast all day and dressed for rain today's goal was to see Holland's classic windmills. The goal was accomplished and Hotair  put BOB in his first video. The ride was about 60 kilometers in often what is  best described as a postcard.

Yesterday Hotair's bike needed attention. The gears were noisy to say the least. Only needing a big chain ring certain adjustments were made assurances. Yep. The issue worsened and on  flat land Hotair  was stuck in the middle chain ring. At least the chain clattering was gone.

The day took them to many operating windmills. Actual simple design with gears and rotating blades. Some other modern wind vanes were also spotted. Thing about it: the dutch used the wind and conquered seas and flooding long ago.

Cool stuff

My friend spot in Europe

The areas ridden  were often park land or small farms with abundant animal activity. People out for strolls,  bike rides or with their animals were abundant. A simple flat ride is all there is in the Amsterdam area. Sunlight would have made the day incredible.

The peculiar is always present and brings a European Route 66 flavor.

After the day with Lenore, BOB and Hotair  took off in search of the 1928 Olympic Stadium. Small as you would expect but likely state of the art then.  As it happened, they were staging an event for the next day, a bike ride to honor one of Amsterdam's famous cyclists. BOB also discovered Amsterdam had a museum complex.

The local rich and famous having a dinner

Cool

Dinner was in town at the very noticeable Grasshopper. It is a green light restaurant visible from the Central Station. Any wandering was cut short as rain finally approached.

Good name for a restaurant

Hotair's daughter must have been in town
